our story

Poppy's family have farmed at High Cross for almost 100 years. Her dad, Matt, is a sheep farmer whose Texel lambs are some of the best quality to be found both in the Cotswolds, and nationally. He also produces occasional quality beef.
Marcus started working in a Cirencester butchers shop at the tender age of 12, in search of more pocket money, and he hasn't left the trade since! He is also a fully trained chef.
We (Poppy and Marcus) started our herd of pigs at High Cross in 2022, initially to provide our own pigs for hog roasts, but now also for retail. We breed from Middle White, Gloucester Old Spot and British Saddleback sows. These heritage breeds mean that our pork is full of flavour and has the perfect fat covering. Pork that tastes like it used to!
We have a sister business to Cotswild: Oink! which is a catering company based across the Cotswolds. We cater for weddings and private events, but you can also find us at festivals and fairs across the summer as well as pop-up events at local venues.
